Pauline:"I inherited this old photo of the Unicorn Hotel from my father in 1974. For thirty two years I had no idea where it was. I knew only that it was connected with my father's family. Last year I contacted my first cousin, living in the U.S and decided to ask if he knew where this Unicorn Hotel was. He told me that it was in Caersws, Powys. He had been taken there from Birmingham by his father in 1949/1950 just before my uncle died. The photograph dates back to that time. They were visiting my Uncle Joe's cousin who owned the Unicorn. We do not know the name of the relative who lived there at the time that the picture was taken but would be pleased to solve the mystery. My cousin also said that one of the two cars parked at the front of the hotel was owned by my uncle."

Peter Drane from Merseyside sent us this response in July 2009:
Peter:"My Grandfather William Oliver Hind was the landlord sometime between 1948-51, he & my Grandmother then moved on and bought The Hawk & Buckle inn, Llanefydd. I know they had the pub before the coronation 1953 but am not sure of the exact dates. I spent many weeks of my school holidays at both pubs playing out in the fields and fishing in the river Severn. Please contact me if I can be of any further help."
Helen Owen, originally from Caersws and now living in the Wirral has provided this snippet of information.
Helen:"My mum who was 14 at the time in question thinks that the name Townsend was associated with the Unicorn at that time."
