Athletics club

Cardigan Leisure Centre

Last updated: 16 September 2008

A new athletics club is launched in Cardigan in September 2008 for children with disabilities aged between 5 and 14 years-old. Gemma Cutter, who is Disability Sport Co-ordinator for Ceredigion, told us more about the project:

  • Check out the newest paralympic sport near you...

  • An athletics initiative will be launched in South Ceredigion to encourage more children with disabilities to take part in sport.

In conjunction with the Federation of Disability Sport Wales, Ceredigion County Council's Disability Sport Development Officer has introduced athletics sessions where children can take part in fun sessions with trained volunteers from Welsh Athletics.

Taking place at Cardigan Leisure Centre, the sessions will be open to all children with disabilities aged between 5-14 years old.

Following the success of a Disability Athletics Club currently running at Plascrug Leisure Centre, Aberystwyth which started in 2007, I am delighted to introduce a second club in Cardigan which aims to be an introduction to disability sport and a natural progression towards competitive opportunities in Wales.

The New Club will be launched at Cardigan Leisure Centre Tuesday 30 September between 4.30-5.30pm please contact me for further information."

If anyone is interested in volunteering with either of these athletics clubs please contact Gemma Cutter on 01970633659 or gemmac@ceredigion.gov.uk.
