Edgar Brooks, as mentioned by Lindsay, Chepstow, was also my great uncle. Lindsay, I hope you see this - we must be cousins! I can't find the picture you mention.

The Three Tuns was our local for a while, many years ago. We have many, slightly blurred memories of Lucy and her "Loopy Juice". Always ready to share her knowledge of Hay and its history with her visitors she always made us feel welcome and more like friends than customers. Hope she is still well and enjoying her retirement.

My great-uncle Edgar Brooks was Lucy's father's drayman....elsewhere on the Hay page I have posted a pic of Edgar's wedding to Florrie Shail who was my grandmother's sister...haven't seen the pub for 20 years so although I remember it as it "was" I should take a look and see what's going on

I have such wonderful memories of Lucy and her lovely warm welcome and I never went out without a visit to her. I wish her much happiness in her retirement she certainly brought a lot of it to us.

One of the main joys of visting Hay was always a visit to see Lucy at the Three Tuns, for a while you could relax and step aside into an unspoilt world when a pub was a charming place to visit. I hope Lucy has a happy retirement.
