From a May Fair in 1880 to the advent of the motor car in 1923, local historian and businessman Eric Lewis Pugh has put together a fascinating album of old photos of Hay-on-Wye. If you've got any shots of the town in days gone by, you can send them to us and we'll add them to the website.

Castle Street 1870 1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9  10  11  12  This is one of the earliest photographs taken in Hay. It shows Castle Street as it was in 1870 when the diarist Francis Kilvert would have known it.
