Timmy's Garden
Have you ever wondered when's the best time to sow your seeds, plant your potatoes or turn your turf?
Timothy O'Neill from Felinwynt near Cardigan reveals all in our online secret diary of a vegetable gardener.
12th Sept
Transplanted the "Spicy Salad Mixture into individual cells, there seems to be three different plant groups, the Mizuna is easily identified but the others are not. Dug up the last of the Edzell Blue potatoes (another 39lbs).
19th Sept
Took out the tomato plants from polytunnel. Took down the runner beans and the bellotti beans from the veg plot. Sown 10 individual cells with Pak Choi variety Ivory.
25th Sept
Cleared out the runner beans and the melons from the polytunnel, Louise then dug over two beds ready to take the Chinese brassicas next week. The melons again seem to have rotted at the base of their stems. Washed the polytunnel both inside and out.

I've followed Jamie Oliver's advice and grown Belotti Beans this year. Now I don't know what to do with them! Can I cook them whole or should I pod them? Should I dry them out (how?) or can I freeze them? Is there a way to preserve them as a chutney for example? Can I keep a few beans as seeds for next year?
