What about the Glansvern Food Festival, near Berriew, in August. We'll all be going - it was great last year.

A good point, and something I had not considered. Who do you have in mind to organise such a competition? It is a shame the Welshpool Partnership folded last year - it is something they could have looked at (I was a director) Speaking as one involved in more than one Welshpool event I am painfully aware how few people are prepared to become involved!

Good local food but there is nothing that is unique from Welshpool or Powys. What about Cumberland Sausage, Caerphilly Cheese, Welsh Cawl, Forfar Bridies, Scotch Pies,Cornish Pasties, Bakewell Tarts, Pontefract Cake, Yorkshire Pudding etc? Lets have a competition to develop an original recipe or food product to bear the name of Welshpool, Montgomeryshire or Powys. Lets get our local food really on the map!
