"It was established in April 2005 to create a bridge between the church and the local community and has developed into an important centre in the area providing an open space and a meeting place for people of all ages - to create, to perform, to learn and to share.
Morlan's various rooms - a large hall, two committee rooms and a coffee bar - can be hired for all sorts of events and activities, and it has the facilities for musical and drama productions, including sound and light systems and changing rooms complete with showers. Drama companies such as Hijinx Theatre, Riding Lights, Troed-y-rhiw Co-operative and various student groups are regular users.
Many organisations make regular use of the Centre to hold their public meetings, including the Ceredigion County Council, the Town Council, the Police and the National Assembly, and other organisations - both local and national - hold internal meetings and committees here.
A number of activities for children and young people regularly take place at Morlan, including a weekly Youth Club and weekly meetings of the local branch of the Wales Youth Forum for Sustainable Development.
Several other local groups also use Morlan as their 'home' - University of the Third Age (U3A), the Transition Town Group, Aberystwyth Peace and Justice Network, and Amnesty International to name but a few. Prayer meetings, Welsh classes, dance classes and lip reading classes are also held here regularly.
In addition, Morlan has its own programme of activities and events that it organises and hosts throughout the year - exhibitions, plays, concerts, social evenings and debates.
Many of these celebrate and draw attention to matters such as One World Week or issues relating to peace, justice and human rights, and involve all sectors of the local community. Several of these events are done in partnership with local groups/organisations such as Hafal and Plas Lluest.
Since its establishment, Morlan has been run by a handful of enthusiastic and committed volunteers, but has recently appointed a full-time manager which will make it easier for the Centre to further develop its activities over the years to come.Further details of the Centre can be found on its website on the right hand side of this page."
