Local Heroes

Sir George Everest is one of Crickhowell's most famous sons but there are dozens of other men and women from the town who've made a name for themselves on the international stage. We're putting together a list of local heroes so if you know of any others, please
get in touch.
Local historian John Addis sent us this information about the great and the good of Crickhowell:
Dewi Morris: played rugby for the English but was born in Crickhowell with Welsh parents.
Mark Wyatt: Played rugby for Wales (Crickhowell mother Dawn Games)
Kenny Davies: Runner - Welsh Champion Nigel Adams: Runner - several times Welsh champion. Ran for GB. in Japan and Berlin.
Malcolm Lloyd (Willie): Boxer - underfeated Welsh Champion 1956, fought Dave Charley 1 win 1 Draw 1 defeat for British & Commonwealth Title.
Mark Cule from Crickhowell nominated two cricketers:
"Michael Powell and Mark Wallace have represented Glamorgan and Mike has made appearances for England (Powell). Both come from the small Powys town of Crickhowell in Mid Wales."
Can you add any more details about their achievements or do you know of any other famous people with Crickhowell connections?
Get in touch and we'll add your comments and nominations to the site.
