Cardigan's Changing Buildings

Click through a 'before and after' slideshow of photos showing how some of Cardigan's buildings are being restored to their former glory. The buildings are all part of a £2.9 million pound project called 'Recreating Pride in Cardigan' which is funded by Ceredigion County Council, EU Objective One money, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Heritage Lottery Fund and CADW.

I am researching something for a friend. She speaks of her grandfather being the mayor of Cardigan and of a clock tower commemoration. Are there any photos of said clock, or suggestions for web sites please?Happy St. David's Day for Saturday.

I've been looking at the before and after pictures of Cardigan. I'm a Londoner by birth, but spent so many happy times in cardigan as from the age of 12. I'm almost 62 now, my sister Doris Jones and her husband Dai, lived in Newtown. So however you change Cardigan you could not erase my wonderful happy days. Cardigan and its people are in my heart forever, God bless you all. From Doris' sister Gloria.X

I think Cardigan will look more stunning and more tourists will help contribute to the town's glory. It's nice to see that people care about the welfare of Cardigan.

I agree, Mike, as the scarcity and cost of fuel inevitably increases, the local food supply infrastructure has to be relied upon. Unfortunately this has now disappeared. Food miles are now increasing exponentially and there is no fall back. What will we do?

Shame this went from a traditional family run food store to a chain store..I think we will regret this in the not too distant future.

It's nice to see a woman doing that, everybody can do it.

I come back to West Wales regularly- I hadn't realised that they had been doing all this work! It looks wonderful and I shall ensure I pay more attention the next time I visit.

Although I rarely visit Cardigan, I thought that the 'before' and 'after' photos of properties in the town were very interesting - I enjoy looking at photos like that, comparing the old and the new. Hopefully, genertations to come will be interested in looking at them to see how things have changed.
