Additional traffic?

In the spring of 2008, property development company Liberty Mercian re-submitted a planning application for a £50m scheme to redevelop the Bath House area of Cardigan. In May 2008, Emyr Williams of Liberty Mercian addresses the issue of increased traffic if the project goes ahead:
"Due to difficulties in acquiring a parcel of land to complete the previously proposed relief road, the new submission proposes a single point of access from Pendre, which both the hospital and the retail accept as it provides a direct link with the town centre.
The single access is fully supported by a revised Traffic Impact Assessment which has concluded that the existing highways system in Cardigan is well within capacity and able to accommodate the revised submission.
Liberty Mercian has also proposed that the priority of flow is modified at the Pendre/ Feidrfair junction to givc right of way to traffic turning right from Pendrre into Feidrfair.
The Traffic Impact Assessment concluded that this change of prioritasition would provide considerable benefit in terms of highway capacity.
The proposed road system will also be designed to cater for the wider reaching traffic improvements proposed for Cardigan by Ceredigion County Council, such as the new gyratory arrangement at Pendre which will become possible when the existing outdated health centre is replaced by the facility planned for Bath House.
The proposed development will bring people into the town centre, revitalising Cardigan. As more people pass through the town centre, this will undoubtedly bring greater economic benefits for the town.
Under the Section 106 agreement for Bath House, Liberty Mercian will also fund elements of the proposed gyratory system and other highways improvements planned by Ceredigion County Council"
