I was on holiday during the show so I decided to go, there was a lovely parade at the end and i was surprised that there was so many people there, the show was good. When I watched the section c classes the stallion was the best I personally think I think it was a name like... something to do with sports - I don't remember a lot but overall it was fantastic!!

Just seen this year's parade, one word to describe it,wonderful! We have only missed two in the last 25 years. There were over 80 tractors/vans/motorbikes and the weather was lovely again. The horses and carriages were worth seeing as usual.

Having lived in the area for 82 years I can honestly say that Barley Saturday is one of the seven wonders of Cardigan. I vividly remember my 1st Barley Saturday in 1932 accompanying my grandfather on the 4 mile journey by horse and trap, stabling the horse at the commercial Inn and the show of stallions at the stable yard.It was then as it it is now, an electrifying experience. Congratulations to the small and dedicated army of families who have, one generation after the other continued the tradition. Long may the crowds return to Aberteifi on the last Saturday in April to pay their respects to the horse for its ability, dedication to man and its beauty.

Please could you let me know the date of 2007 Barley Saturday - I presume it's the Mayday bank Holiday weekend, but there's nothing on this website to confirm this. What time does it start and where from?

Finally, i've been waiting for years for someone to come up with a site on barley saturday. I have such fond memories of the event growing up, and always try to describe the event to people here, but it is so hard to put into words and be able to show what an awsome event this is. Please post more photos from the next barley saturday or any from previous years, i would love to see them, living in canada, there seems nothing in comparison, it really is a unique event that i cherished as a child, seeing these photos deffinately gives me feelings of hiraeth! When is the 2007 show?

This was only the second time for me at the show but my father shows his Section C stallion every year. Last year he was Supreme Champion but this year was Reserve Supreme Champion with the same horse, Tremymor Sportsman, It was a lovely feeling walking Sportsman round the town. It was also nice to see a lovely turnout of people and when presented with the cup, my 6yr old and 9yr old daughters were given a lovely clap when walking down the main street holding the cup. Thank you for showing the picture of Tremymor Sportsman on page 5.

Many thanks for a day of nostalga and history all in one go, in a traditional town setting, much appreciated by young & old. The effort put in by organisers and entrants/helpers must be immense so a big thank u. Regards, Bert.
