"Sponsors of the Welsh team shirts, Mr & Mrs Graham Jones of Graham Jones Groundworks, met with players at a hog roast in The Unicorn Hotel on Friday evening where the team shirts were presented to the individual players.
Following a light lunch in The Red Lion Hotel on Saturday, players and officials made their way along Bridge Street to the Recreation Ground where both teams lined up to parade onto the field of play at 12:30pm.
Following the National Anthems and an opportunity for photographs, at 1pm play was announced by the day's MC and former Welsh International quoiter, Euros Davies.
There was a very pleasing show of support for the event, as villagers and those from a little further, grabbed the opportunity to spend an afternoon relaxing in the rare sunshine to the sound of steel on steel as the quoits found their mark in the clay.
Caersws quoiters, Wales Captain Russell Owen and Brendon Lloyd had mixed fortunes with Owen having the disappointment of pulling a back muscle during his game, not to take anything away from his opponent Hugh Cunningham who beat him 21 - 19.
Lloyd however had a convincing win of 21 4 over his opposite number William Reid, culminating in his receipt of the Wales Man-of-the-Match award at the presentation dinner catered for by Lisa's Pantry, in The Buck Hotel later that evening.
There were some very exciting and close-run games including that of Kenny Hay and Nigel James - there being only one point the difference in the end - Scotland's Hay taking the win, earning himself the award for Scotland's Man of the Match.
The day's play ended around five thirty with the final score of a Wales win by 204 points to Scotland's 136. Scotland's Man-of-the-Match was Kenny Hay of Glenburn Club.
Referee, Dewi Jones of Caersws was kept busy most of the day, measuring disputed points but managed to keep his cool despite the rising temperatures. Next year's International will be held in Prestwick, Scotland on the last Saturday in July."

I thouroughly enjoyed my second Welsh International in Wales. The hospitality was like 'home from home'I also enjoyed my stay at the hotel in Newtown and visited the local museums, and the Robert Owen connection with Scotland.Congratulations to Caersws Quoiting Club and their 'wee helpers' for a memorable day and a fantastic video of the event. I have used it at a few events to promote the sport.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day at the International in Caersws, it was a great weekend in all. We are great supporters of quoits at both international and club level, and travel to Caersws every year for their open day in July, where we have many friends. Long may it continue!
