Caersws Quoiters
Last updated: 07 September 2007
Quoits is an ancient game which involves throwing an iron ring around a pin or peg in the ground. It's a sport which has been around for more than 2,000 years. In September 2007, Linda Evans from Caersws, Joint Secretary of the Welsh Quoiting Board wrote about the success of two Caersws Quoiters.
"Russell Owen and Brendon Lloyd of Caersws Quoits Club won a host of trophies between them this year, making 2007 the most successful season in the club's history.
2007 International Captain Russell Owen and No 2 Brendon Lloyd's haul of trophies consisted of theLlanarthne Open Shield,
Banwen Open,
Saron Open,
International Winner's Trophy,
William Dice Grand Prix Cup,
Caersws Open,
British Open Championship,
Welsh Individual Championship,
and the Felinfach Open.
Missing from the line-up are trophies for the West Wales Open which Russell also won, and the trophy Brendon won at Llanybydder Open which unfortunately had been previously (and temporarily we hope) mislaid.
Brendon also won the Wales Man-of-the-Match award at the recent Wales v Scotland International."

I have searched without success for a way to contact Linda through the net. Such interesting articles re the game and its history! Penny and I recently moved to Carno, to Tremallt B&B. Recent guests have been cyclist racers at the downhill event at Llanunog, clay pigeon shooting experts and rally drivers.
