"At a Mid Wales farm, on the eve of the wedding blessing of Rachel and Neil, an intrepid band of pre-wedding helpers were busy with the last minute finishing touches. Suddenly from the bottom of the meadow came the most glorious sound of music. Anwen, Owen, Mairwen were practising to sing at the blessing.
On a beautiful summer's evening on Wernwyn meadow, all was right with the world, the music echoed from the hills around and it felt good, the fateful words were uttered, "We must do this again", and so Music on the Meadow was born.
Music on the Meadow is an open air picnic-style concert held at Wernwyn Farm, near Builth Wells. It is run by a group of volunteers from the rural community.
Various charities have benefited from past concerts, they include County Air Ambulance, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Tenovus, Meningitis Cymru and SANDS (Still Birth and Neonatal Death Society).
The 2006 concert will be held on Friday 4 August, and will feature Trebor Edwards, Builth Wells Male Voie Choir, Wye Valley Chorus and Anwen, Owen and Mairwen. The supported charities will be County Air Ambulance, MacMillan Cancer Relief and Huntingtons Disease Association.
Tickets are available from The Flower Shop, Builth Wells or Tel : 01982 552165."
