Does anyone know whether the rugby field camping site opens on the Thursday or the Friday this year? Also, anyone have any ideas of how much it costs? Help appreciated!

Do any of the campsites allow dogs?

Looking forward to another top weekend, and live music back in the streets at last! Don't worry about camping, there are loads of places within walking distance. Let's pray for good weather, and don't forget your plastic glasses!

Looking to 2007, with a wife in a wheelchair. Where is the best place to stay with a campervan and which are the most accesible venues?

Ahhh, feeling so ill prepared. Not been before. Booked one or two things early. Booked campsite early. Can only come for saturday part of sunday. Was all excited, but now all I see is talk of stroller tickets and rugby camping ahhhhhh

The Jones O'Connor Group were my favourite gig this year. They are a real asset to Welsh Jazz. If anyone reading this website sees any of their upcoming gigs - GO!

I just checked with the organisers on the camping situation. Anyone can book into the campsite on the rugby field regardless if you have tickets for gigs or not. The official campsite is situated near the leisure centre and you need tickets for this. The rugby field is the best place to camp if you want a good time once all of the pubs have kicked out!

Don't know what the deal is for camping this year. The official website says no camping without proof of concert tickets. I don't know if this is for the rugby field (which is the best place for a laugh) but if it is they should expect mayhem as most people go to Brecon for a good time, not to spend money on indoor concerts. It looks like they are turning Brecon into a money making machine instead of a great weekend for all!

Everyone seems to be asking the same question, where do we camp and can we book our pitch? Can't get there until sat so will there be any pitches left?

Can You just book in at rugby club on Sat or do you have to book?
Tue Aug 8 13:54:45 2006

So will there still be free bands around the festival or do you have to buy a stroller ticket just to get in?
Mon Aug 7 09:56:14 2006

I hear that festival camping is restricted to ticket holders only this year.

Camp in the Rugby Grounds it is by far the nicest campsite. as far as I am aware you just turn up on the day it is usually £10 per night and a min 2 nights. The Gremlin Pub is amazing!! And for all the Young uns, go to the nightclub in the middle of the town on the sat night - it is very warm and sweaty but a fun night!!

Do you just turn up at rugby field to camp or do you have to book???

Great home-made cakes from kids in the Postern (between Castle Hotel and Cathedral) last year.

Got to say guys, if you're not fussed on seeing the big names and just want to go for the atmosphere, take a stroll down to the Gremlin hotel on the Watton. Fantastic atmosphere, cheaper than the bars in town and some great music in the car park at the rear. Trust me!!!!

Why don't Brecon jazz have the Krukke anymore???? They were the best street music by far, everybody loves them. We want them back!!!

Have you got to book a camping pitch or do you just turn up?

HELP! I've bought a camping pass from Brecon Jazz, but have no idea what that means - does it restrict me to one area, or does it mean I can camp anywhere, for example, the rugby field...? Please help! And are there a lot of free events as well as the official concerts?
Sat Jul 30 12:18:29 2005

Emily from Cardiff
Can anybody tell me where the Rugby Ground is or tell me a site where I can get directions?
Tue Jul 26 13:35:36 2005

Andy, Weaverham
If you are planning on having a few beers it is worth taking a hard plastic pint glass or tankard with you, the centre of town is pedestrianised for the weekend and pubs will only provide you with the flimsy plastic glasses which fold and spill all your drink if you hold them too hard.
Thu Jun 30 15:10:47 2005

Andy, Weaverham
The Rugby ground is by far the best place to camp, next to a river, five minute walk along the canal into town, good clean amenities, security by the local rugby lads, BBQ, and fairly priced, and plenty of people up for a good time.
Thu Jun 30 15:05:33 2005

Last year was my 1st year @ the jazz festival, would recommend anybody to go-it's not all classic jazz, music to suit all tastes! The feel, the atmosphere...(oh & camp on the rugby ground) ;-)

Afternoon venues less crowded than evening do's. Marquees excellent for family entertainment and big bands with big impact!

The Castle Hotel is one of the smallest venues, so make sure you get there early if you want to get in for a popular stroller concert. But if all else fails you can always go round to the lawn at the back of the hotel and enjoy the music through the french windows!
Thu Aug 12 13:40:22 2004

A stroller ticket is best value.

Is Jamie Cullum playing this year?

We checked with the festival organiser and he's not playing brecon jazz this year - Mid Wales Web Team

camping up the croeg (if thats how its spelt) is also a good idea, bit dodgy to get to if your drunk. The island fields r also good, but not too closer to the water! its very easy to fall in!
Tue Mar 9 11:34:31 2004

Jen - Brecon
Best place would have to be the Island Fields. Nearest camp site to town but probably far enough away to get some sleep at night!
Tue Jan 20 15:33:18 2004

Steve, Maesteg
OK regulars - where's the best place to camp this weekend?
Wed Aug 6 08:24:08 2003

Get a programme and plan your itinerary - with so much on offer, you may find two of your favourite stars are performing at the same time in different venues.
