I have so many fond memories of Borth. My foster family first took me there as a teenager and are somehow related to Mike and Sarah Pugh of The Friendship Inn. We used to stay in Arfor right opposite the pub and did visit for a number of years.I think you never shrug the Borth attraction. Just before leaving the nest and going to Uni I spent the summer of 1991 working at the Golf Hotel and even took a girlfriend for a romantic Valentines weekend while at Wolves Uni back in 1992. That was the last time I stayed but other family members still go down. I am thinking about taking my family now, although im sure many things have changed and people moved on. My 7 year old lad is sure to love the ynyslas sand dunes and long beach and hopefully capture and cherish the Borth spirit and community like I did.

There is something very special about Borth, something that makes you want to return again and again. We came on weekend to visit my sister-in-law's caravan and were immediately captivated by the views. There is also an air of history which is quite captivating. It retains a quiet dignity whilst other seaside destinations have become mini Blackpools. It will always keep us returning.

Trip 3 to Borth this year is planned, to be there for my birthday is the best present l could have. A long walk on the beach and a pint at the friendship is just the thing on my birthday. Need to look for a house to rent so l can move there has been decided, l keep looking but nothing found yet.

I spent all my summer holidays in Borth and now I am older, I love to go when it's quiet, take long walks on the beach and be at peace with the world. There is something about Borth that is special - the view from the cliff road takes my breath away every time. I love Borth.

If Borth decides it wants you it will not let you go. From days as a toddler playing on the beach to much of my teenage holidays; and now returning from year to year to visit my mother. Something primitive and natural exists in Borth and compells me to return - I expect always. Looking forward to my next visit is a couple of weeks.

My grandparents owned a caravan on Cambrian Coast campsite in Borth since before i was born, up until the age of 12 We would go every summer for the duration of the holidays and i loved every minute of it.Such a peaceful, beautiful village and so much to do even to keep children occupied! My grandmother died 11 years ago and i have not been back since, I miss the place terribly and have just booked tickets for a days visit on my birthday this year, possibly the best present i have ever had, and my partner has never been so I hope he falls in love with the place too. i cannot wait to%! 20dance on the beach again and watch the sunset! might even bring my bucket and spade.

I started going to Borth about five years ago when we had bought a tent and pitched, like Rebecca Hunter by the sound of it, at Ynys Fergi farm near the Animalarium. I was immediately struck by the quiet beauty of the town and the way it is completely unspoilt, maybe its name doesn't inspire romanticism, maybe people just head for Barmouth, Tywyn, Aberdyfi or Aberystwyth: I don't know but the town has been left in a peaceful state with just a hint of romantic disrepair. Whatever it is that keeps us (and plenty of other fellow Midlanders) coming back, there will always be a little part of me standing at the viewpoint halfway up the hill photographing my nearest and dearest against the backdrop of the sea or lying on the sand dunes at Ynylslas.

Borth hols such fond memories for me. For decades my family have been pitching up on the farm land next to the petting zoo!! I remeber being so young and asking my dad why the sheep didn't fall down the hills, his response " it's because darling, the sheep have shorter legs at the front so they don't fall backwards!!". Of course i believed him haha! The last time i visited borth was when there was the hundred mile an hour winds, the foam was blowing off the sea and slate falling in the street. My fondest memory is playing in the river at the back of the farm in an inner tube donated by a friend i met there, Laura she lived next to the cafe. I did go and knock her door last time i was there urged on by my dad. My nan's ashes are scattered up on the hill by the big church up top. i will return one day

Just returned from our third holiday in Borth this year. The weather was wind, rain, even had flooding. But that is Borth it gives you every thing all at once. Even if the weather is bad the locals are warm hearted. We always have a smile and a chat where ever we call in,we have just booked for febuary and can't wait.

I'm so looking forward to the carnival next Friday. This will be the 5th year that a group of us are going and it just gets better and better! Roll on watching the sunset from the balcony of the Vic. The hog roast at carnival. The walk across the cliff tops to Aberystwyth (and catching the train back), and last but not least saving Amy from her midnight paddle in the sea!!!!

All my childhood memories are of Borth, my Grandfather had a caravan there and we would always go there for our holidays, to me its the best place on earth, the beach sea is just wonderful, and the sunsets are spectacular. I feel very fortunate to be living there now and have been for the last 19 years I wouldn't change a thing, I have travelled to many places and often spend a lot of time in Spain, but there no place like Borth just pleased to be part of it.

I used to go to borth as a child my parents had a caravan there, me and my sister met loads of friends and every summer they had a fair there, it was so tiny but when you are a child everything seemed big.I still go now on the same site nothing has changed (except the fair is no longer there) and I take my two sons with me.Although they love theme parks and arcades when we go to Borth its like everything is forgotton and all they want to do is go to the rock caves or surf on the beach. It is a lovely place and a great chippy in the cenre!

My sister, Michelle and I spent every school holiday in Borth as my parents had a static caravan there. They sold up about 20 years ago, but we still have a friend who has a caravan on the same site. My sister goes each year with her 2 children and me and my husband are going this year with our 20 month old twin girls. I can't wait to bring my wonderful childhood memories back to life and I hope my daughters will love it just as much as my sister Michelle and I did. I remember they had a great pony trecking club on our caravan site too. I think I can remember the names of all the horses! Borth also used to hav a great fair in the summer which we used to go to back in the 80's.Julie

From childhood I have visited borth I'm 44 now and last year I took my stepdaughter now age 25 to see the sunset , the sea turns the most gorgeouse blue, its like being in the carribean but only 126 miles from home, the people there are so friendly unlike home where noone even says good morning to each other, if you go there try the home made apple pie from the shop opposite the rnli station its mouth watering.

My name is Lynne Hughes and I live at the Grand Hotel which is now flats rather than an hotel but to make up for that I work at a hotel in Aberystwyth. Borth is a great place to live and I love my sea view and the peace of this coastal village. I like being a part of the coastline and living in a place where people come to find peace and holdidays from their working lives. I have lived there for 8 years and am not planning on leaving, however, I am writing this from my lap top in Adelaide South Austalia as I have been on holiday here for the past month and I must say that Australia has the edge on the Borth weather in January.

I've spent many a holiday in both resorts as a child and a adult with my wife and parents and would love to live in either resort and retire early by the sea.

I discoverd Borth six years ago and it was love at first sight. We now come home (as we call it) three times a year and we would spend more time there if we could. In fact we are now looking to buy a house there and plan to move home as soon as we can.Our next trip is in March and we can't wait to stand on the beach and fill our lung's with Borth air, yummy.

Have holidayed in Borth since early 60's. We had a caravan on Y from the site next to Brynowen which was owned by the Morris family. Over the last 10 years have returned to Borth some 8/9 times amazingly nothing has changed. This is just one of the most idealic locations. The beach, rock pools, camels humps then there the sand dunes. I have so many happy memories and hopefully my sons will continue to visit. I would finally add that I have travellled the world on business and Holiday and nothing takes my breath away as much as when you drive into Borth, the first question in the car Is the monuement still there? Love Borth and its people

I have been coming to Borth since I was a child and even today as I have left to return home after a short break there was a lump in my throat. It's a place that holds fond memories, especially during the 80's. I want my childen to enjoy Borth has much as I did and still do.

I spent most of my childhood holidays in Borth then bought a holiday home there so my children could experience the wonderful times I had. They learnt to swim and to waterski had no trouble making friends with other families everyone was so friendly. We'd all spend hours sitting on the wall on the beach watching the sun go down hoping to see a dolphin and occasionally catching sight of a seal on the camel humps! I got to know a lot of people over the years and now I don't have the house anymore I really miss it. I had a weeks holiday in Borth in May after not being there for two years! and I was glad to see it still had that magic about it.

My family and I spent all our holdays in Borth when I was a child in the fifties and sixties. It was called "Hereford on Sea" as so many Herefordians holidayed in Borth. I invariably found children I knew from home to play with. Three years ago my husband and I bought a caravan at Ynyslas and spend as much time there as we can. The whole area is beautiful and relaxing. We love it

I lived in borth in 1987 for approx 3 years.I knew then it was a special place and holds very fond memories of those special days. I worked in the railway for a short while and can remember glorious summer days sitting on the beach on an afternoon before returning to work for the evening shift. I hope one day, to return to beautiful borth and show my children a very poignant part of my life.

My family have been coming to Borth for over 42 years. It is a magical place. The dunes and beach at Ynyslas are breath-taking - far better than anything you get abroad. The air is clear and crisp, the countryside beautiful and the local people are very welcoming. Borth has a timeless quality about it (combined, of course, with the nostalgia of happy childhood memories). It is, without doubt, THE place for me, in the winds and freezing rain of February or August's stunning sunshine with the jets soaring overhead. Unbeatable.

As a child my parents and I visited mid wales every year staying on a farm near Talerddig. There were 3 children on the farm who used to look forward to our visit because we would take them out on day trips with us. One of our favourite visits was to Borth where we would paddle in the sea and play on the sand. Once tired of this we would walk into the village to the amusement arcade that was, if I remember correctly, housed in a green tin building.
Our favourite 'slotty' was 'the elephant'. This was at the entrance to the arcade. You paid sixpence and a mechanised elephant appeared as if by magic with a white box on its back containing a gift. This was tipped down a chute for our eager hands to collect. If any of the children stayed on the farm instead of visiting Borth strict instructions were given to get a box from the elephant for them. I am revisiting Borth with my 3 young children this October. I guess the elephant has long since gone but my memories will be very alive that day!

I have fond memories of Borth as a child growing up we visited Borth for 5 years staying in a friend's caravan. I live in the City of Stoke-On-Trent and when life gets hectic and stressful, I close my eyes and recall the tranquility and beauty of Borth's beach at sun set. I am visiting Borth this August and bringing my 3 children with me and I hope they will be able to take with them a little piece of paradise that they too can call upon when they need to retreat.

I have lived in Borth for the past 7 years and it is the most magical place - where else could you enjoy your morning tea and watch the dolphins swim by, be the last person to see the sun set and watch the waves crashing so close to the house?! In winter, it can be grim, - the wind is wicked...but when the weather is good it is the most beautiful place to be. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
