I used to play on this beach when I was a little girl, I thought all beaches had wood like this in the sand! I believe it is a submerged Mesolithic forest which became inundated by the tide as the sea level rose at the end of the last ice age.

Excellent pics. We've seen the forest today and would like more info. How old is it? How are those old groynes so far down the beach? How was the land submereged and when? Some history of Borth would be helpful.
