Borth Station Murals

Last updated: 30 October 2006

Villagers at Borth have been working with the artist Bodge on four murals as a focal point for their local railway station. On 28 October 2006 their efforts were unveiled on the station platform.

The colourful murals depict the four elements of earth, wind, fire and water in and around Borth. The art project is part of a scheme where local people are helping to care for and take pride in their railway station.

The station was officially adopted by George Romary and John Toler from Borth in February 2006 under the Arriva Trains Wales 'Adopt a Station' scheme. Under the scheme community volunteers help to keep an eye on their station and let their local station manager know if there are any issues to be addressed so that these can be dealt with quickly.

We, the Orrell Park Regeneration Group in Liverpool have also adopted our local railway station and were runners-up in the Network Rail awards scheme that Borth Station won. We were very kindly invited to visit the station and see for ourselves all the hard work that has been done in transforming the station platforms to what they are today. Borth were worthy winners and we were very impressed with the lovely murals. Keep up the good work. The station looks well cared for and inviting. We would also like to thank John for his hospitality welcoming us to Borth.

Well done, but perhaps more credit ought to have gone to the local artist, Bodge, who provided the inspiration.
