Location: SN605925, 1.5 miles north of Borth.
Short description: To the north of Borth lie the sandy beach and dunes of Ynyslas - a great place to go walking or to relax on the beach but not for swimming. The area is part of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve whose visitor centre contains information about the spectacular sand dunes. The estuary, looking across towards Aberdyfi, is popular with windsurfers, surfers, kite surfers and other board-based water sports enthusiasts.
Directions: From Aberystwyth, turn off the A487 at Rhydpennau onto the B4353 signposted Borth and drive through the village to Ynyslas. From Machynlleth, take the B4353 turning at Trerddol.
Car parking: There is parking on the beach and a small disabled car park near the visitor centre. There is a small charge for parking in the summer. Tickets can be obtained from the visitor centre. You can also purchase a season ticket for parking.
Public Transport: Buses travel from Aberystwyth via Borth. It is also possible to get the train to Borth from Aberystwyth, and walk along the beach to Ynyslas - a journey of 1.5 miles.
Swimming: Swimming is forbidden due to strong currents.
