    • What is your name?: Sue Purcell
    • Where do you work?: Glandernol, Llangurig
    • How did you get started as an artist?: Living with a family that encouraged painting helped me develop my career in art. I studied textile design as a mature student in Derby & after working in the Laura Ashley design studio in Carno for a few years I became a free lance artist & designer. As well as working on various projects in the early nineties I also studied painting & drawing at the School of Art in Aberystwyth that helped me develop my own art work.
    • How would you describe your work?
It is quite eclectic. I produce mainly wall based pieces, using mixed media, varying from bold graphic, abstract to representational styles.
    • Do you draw inspiration from your local area?: Yes, most definitely. I have lived in rural areas most of my life and nature has been the main subject in my work.
    • Where has your work been shown?: Christie's in London, Nature in Art Gallery, Wallsworth Hall, Gloucester, local Art Centres. On AXIS & DRAGONCOLLECTIVE websites.
    • Do you have any exhibitions coming up?: Yes, new work to be shown in a solo exhibition called "Look Just Look" at the Great Oak Cafe, Llanidloes in December 2009
    • Any thing else we should know?: SUMMER 2009 I am exhibiting some of my more traditional paintings of acrylic on hand made paper at Y Llwyfan the Centre of Cultural and Creative Excellence in Carmarthen. They can be seen on the ground floor in the hall between the reception area and the Arts Care offices. www.icreu.co.uk

These paintings depict decorative fans and are not representative of my current work, but nevertheless are still part of my portfolio of art work. The hand-made paper was made near Hay-on-Wye by Maureen Richardson www.maureenrichardson.co.uk .
