  • What is your name?

    Stuart Parnell

  • Where do you work?

Riverside Studio, Llangynog, Near Oswestry, Powys

  • How did you get started as an artist?

I have always been interested in drawing and painting from an early age and painted part time whilst working in engineering. I made a career change in 1983 and studied fine art at Wirral College of Art and Design from 1983 - 1986, and became a full-time artist in 1987, working on commissions, solo and group exhibitions.

  • How would you describe your work?

My work is mainly landscape based using Acrylic, Watercolour and Pastel, ranging from small studies to large canvases.

  • Do you draw inspiration from your local area?

Living and working in the heart of the beautiful Tanant Valley surrounded by the Berwyn Mountains provides an abundance of wildlife and natural landscape subjects to be depicted in my paintings.

  • Where has your work been shown?

My work has been exhibited locally and nationally, through private and public galleries, in solo and group exhibitions, including the British Society of Painters Exhibitions in Yorkshire and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries in London.

My work is also in public and private collections throughout the Uk, Europe, USA and Australia, and I have won several awards for my work on a local and national level.

  • Do you have any exhibitions coming up?

I don't have any solo exhibitions planned at the moment.p>
