  • What is your name?: Moira Hay
  • Where do you work?: From my studio at home in Cribyn, near Lampeter.
  • How did you get started as an artist?: Probably from the moment Mum put drawing implements into my baby hands, followed by a supportive Art teacher at school who persuaded Mum to relent and let me go to Art School - then single-minded persistence after that.
  • How would you describe your work?
I am primarily an illustrator, so I respond to a brief using a style and medium best suited to a client's project. I describe my approach as "Experienced, Imaginative, Versatile, Intuitive". I embrace both traditional and digital media, but always with an emphasis on good drawing and observational skills.
  • Do you draw inspiration from your local area?: Most definitely - whether the beautiful surroundings of my adopted country literally appear in my work, or simply enable me to function at my best, my surroundings are an essential part of the creative process.
  • Where has your work been shown?: My commissioned work is used in publishing - books and magazines for adults and children - and on corporate and promotional material, in Wales, the rest of the UK and Europe, and on the Web.
  • Do you have any exhibitions coming up?: I have never considered an exhibition, but would be very pleased to contribute, if approached.
  • Any thing else we should know?: I am always delighted to carry out one-off commissions for private clients, either for original artwork or quality giclée prints.
