Quilt Association

Last updated: 21 November 2007

The Quilt Association was formed in 1995 by a group of friends in order to raise funds to house the collection of antique Welsh quilts known as The Welsh Heritage Collection. To this end the Association has acquired the Minerva Centre in Llanidloes where workshops and shows take place every year. In November 2007 Jackie Newey sent us these photographs of quilts and activities at the centre:

I have inherited my grandmothers welsh quilt she was given by a grateful mother of a soldier she looked after in the Great War. It is frayed on the edges. What do I do?

Wow! I am Jackie Newey's sister in law and very impressed. Sadly I loathe sewing with a passion but have in the past knitted and crochet on a professional basis and having seen the stunning work am inspired to fulfill a long planned idea to develop a business creating bespoke bridal bags with my daughter.
