"After visiting the Rivers to the Sea seats at Aberystwyth Harbour and being introduced to the idea of interpretive artworks, the Year 5 children at Llwyn yr Eos Primary School were inspired to design some sort of seat for their playground, which said something about their school.
After generating many interesting ideas on paper, which they then further developed into clay models, elements from several of them were selected for the final design, which is a circular bench, with a large mosaic of the school logo inside, and a row of figures of children round the outside.
Although the block work bench was constructed by a builder, all the other features were made by the children themselves, working with myself.
The mosaic was made by pupils from the Active Learning Unit ( Key Stage 1 and 2 ) and the Autistic Unit, while the plywood figures are all outlines of actual children of all ages from the school, which Year 6 pupils cut out with a jigsaw."
