Sea Stories

With its strong maritime heritage, there's no shortage of sea stories in Aberystwyth. Here are some of the nautical photos and features sent in by local people.

Harbour Life The late Gwyn Martin kept a photographic record of life around Aber harbour.	The Lifeboat A history of Aberystwyth's lifeboats from 1881 to the latest addition in 2007.
Submarine Rescue A survivor's account of a dramatic submarine rescue off Aberystwyth in 1946.	Shipping Out Born in Trefeachan, Gerry Evans has written a book based on his seaborne memories of Aberystwyth.
Celtic Challenge Since 1993, long boat teams from Aber and Ireland have taken part in this unique race across the Irish Sea.	Fundraising Flotilla A flotilla of 16 boats from Ireland sailed into Aber harbour in April 2006 to raise funds for the lifeboat.
