Can anyone tell me which armed forces were in the Aberystwyth area in the Spring/Summer of 1940?

I was evacuated to Aberystwyth aged about 11, I am now 76. I think I was staying in the Carleon hotel at first, and was then moved somewhere else. I loved Aberystwyth, I remember we used to go on the funicular. I also loved the people they were so kind. Is the Carleon hotel still there?

I was posted to Aberystwyth as a Flight Cadet. We lived in the last Hotel north. While there I remember doing three mile cross country runs, barefoot in the beautiful countryside. And of course lots of marching and drills on the sea front.
I met my first real girlfriend Sheelah Patricia Lewis from Haverfordwest. She was a biology student at the University and we had great memorable times together. While there I played a part in a play called "Ghost Train" with the local theater group. More fun.
I went off to become a Flying boat Pilot/navigator and somehow we lost touch. I often recall 20the great times that the townspeople let us share.
