This year's Worlds Book Day was celebrated by Ceredigion Museum and Libraries together with Arad Goch, theatre company, with a special writing competition. Winners of the competition to write on the theme of Wood were announced at Ceredigion Museum by Jeremy Turner on World Book Day 5 March 2009 at four o'clock.
Once again Ceredigion Museum together with Arad Goch, Theatre in Education Company, and Ceredigion Library Service ran a competition to encourage local people to write their own stories or poems.
The theme chosen for this years competition was simply 'Wood'. The judge for this year was Jeremy Turner and although he was initially disappointed to find so few Welsh entries to the competition he was pleased to be able to announce the winners on the day.
In the three categories he awarded various prizes and together with Sue Jones Davies he read out works by the winners.
First prize for the under elevens was shared by two winners and went to Ieuan Davies and Gethin ap Dafydd .
Commended in this category were Sioned Owen, Alison Keegan and Laura Hughes.
In the eleven to seventeen category the winner was Sarah Hudis from Bontnewydd.
In the adult section the winner was Geraint Rowlands for his piece titles 'Butter Print Visiting.' Caroline Clark also won a prize in this section for her piece called Coed Geufron.
All the works will be available on line at Ceredigion Museum's website which is linked to on the right hand side of this page and copies will be on display at the museum, Arad Goch office Bath Street and the Town Library.
