My great, great grandfather Evan Lewis was running the Feathers Inn in Alban Square in 1861.Does anyone have any information on him or his wife Elizabeth (nee Jones)?Evan was born in Llandewi Aberarth in 1796.His son, also Evan, was working as a groom in The Feathers in 1901.

I am Gareth Jones' (see above 2/10/07) uncle. My father, Jenkin David Jones was born & brought up in Aberaeron, and his surviving older sisters, my maiden aunts Mari & Jenny, lived in their father's old house on Belle Vue Terrace until they died,(Mari was in her 90's) when it became my father's, and subsequently was left to my brother Charles David Eric Jones and myself. It is one of my great regrets that we decided to sell it shortly after Dad died. We had an uncle Jack, who was a sea Captain like his father, and who sadly went down in a storm off the Lizard with a great loss of life. His crew were were mostly Aberaeron men, and it was a time of sadness for many families. Perhaps this will jog some memories to answer Gareth's query?

We have read and heard so much good about Aberaeron, that we think we would enjoy living there. As soon as we sell our home in warm and sunny Essex, we hope to move to Aberaeron, and then we will be near where my daughter lives.

I moved from Aberaeron in my late teens. I used to walk our border collie (Megan) over the cliffs on south beach and sit for hours watching the trawlers put out and come in. I'm heading back to the area in a couple of weeks and I can already feel the wind biting at me - I can't think of a better place to be. Oh, and fish & chips at the Celtic 'restaurant' cannot be missed either.....

I was born and spent my youth in Aberaeron, and though I've been away for well over 40 years, I still enjoy coming back for the all too rare visit. The town has certainly brightened up since I lived there, and yet it's remarkably the same as I remember it over 60 years ago. Sadly, so many of my old school friends have died, and I feel almost a complete stranger. But people are as friendly as ever, and I can understand why Aberaeron is so popular.

My father was born in Aberaeron and his family came from neighbouring villages. I lived there for the 1st 6 months of my life and spent all my childhood holidays there. Dad used to play for the football team and was also a good tennis player. He is still alive at 90 years old. His name is James Ceredig Jones and he still loves the town. I still love to visit this lovely town.

The most relaxed laid back place I know. 25 years or so ago I came to listen to the jazz one carnival w/end & have hardly ever missed a year since. My daughters came to love it as much as I did, now they take their own kids who also love it. Keep it up Aberaeron....but dont change too much.

I visited your town in 1999. I am American. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Wish I could live there, but maybe an American would spoil it.

Aberaeron is such a cool little town. My sister and I stayed over nite at a great little B&B. We were there with other family members visiting family - Geinor Lewis and cousins we had just met for the first time. I only wish we would have had more time to spend in and around this lovely part of Wales! Guess this means another trip is due! Only wish the pub we stopped in would have been open longer!

Been comming to Aber since I was a wee nipper! What a loverly peaceful place, to stay, shop or just visit for the day. My children now love Aber too, especially a nice panini in Jibinc while we sit and have a fresh coffe with a freshly baked slice of Bara Brith, mmmmmm. Any local on here know why or when the town changed the spelling of it name?

I think my grandfather built ships/boats in Aberarth and moved to Liverpool when he needed to continue work. I love the area Aberarth and Aberaeron and the farms that have family connections. (Llain and Mwythig)I'm connected to the Davis's and James's family in the area.My wife is from California and she likes the area as much as I do and that makes me happy.

My great, great grandmother came from Aberaeron. Visited this year and fell in love with the place. I would love to buy a property here, the older (and cheaper) the better! My great, great grandmother was called Ellen (surname unknown but I believe to be Owen) and born in 1842, she married a Swedish sailor and they settled in Cardiff. I was trying to picture how the town would have looked in her time and wondered how she good have left such a beautiful place but of course, in those days, you moved where the work was! I can't wait to visit again, it felt like home.

Always found Aberaeron clean and a feeling of safety when shopping no matter what time of the year. Would agree with comments already made that there is insufficient parking spaces.

I visit Aberaeron regularly, I love it. I've joined the National Trust and always have a brilliant day at Llanerchaeron. The house is lovely, the Walled Garden and Farm are brillant, there are always piglets. Great value for money. Then back to Aberaeron for chips and honey ice cream.

There's been numerous National champion Welsh Cob horses from the Aberaeron area, many before we were born. Love statue, love art, let's have more art in the town - after all its famous for its architecture + colour! Shame holiday homes mean locals can't afford to live there.

My Grandfather Jenkyn David Jones came from Aberaeron. I believe he grew up in 'The Captain's House' on the harbour. I am told his father, David Jones, was captain of a three masted barque and a coaster called 'Blue Jacket'. Do I still have relatives or family friends in the town?

Have been to Aberaeron for the last five years or so,fishing at Oakford during the day, and dining/drinking in Aberaeron during the evening. Lovely place with lovely people. Can't wait to return for a meal at The Victoria Hotel followed by a drink at The Black Lion Hotel with good old Jim, best landlord around for miles.

Lived there from when I was 11 until I left to go to uni. Parents still live there so go back every now and again (well as much as life lets me!) I think it's a good place to live/visit if you've got a young family or have retired as the pace of life suits btter.

I haven't seen the new statue outside the Feathers that Wyn mentions.Interested to know what it is.
Can anyone fill me in with the details?
Perhaps the town photographer Rhodri Jones could post a picture of it on this website.
Look forward to seeing it to give my opinion.

As a citizen of Aberaeron I still cannot understand people’s fascination with the statue that proudly stands outside The Feathers. Do people seriously believe that this gives locals/visitors/holiday makers alike a true reflection of Aberaeron and its way of life? The money could have been spent on something far more worthwhile in my opinion.
