Born in Neath and educated in Brecon, Sarah-Jane Davies from Sennybridge now studies with Lillian Watson and is currently a member of the English National Opera Young Singers Programme.
Sarah-Jane won her place at this year's BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition by winning the Welsh Singers Competition at St David's Hall in Cardiff in 2007.
Sarah-Jane, has been singing since she was 15. In June she will be competing against 24 young singers from around the world.
Her past engagements include Pamina The Magic Flute; Romilda Xerxes; Angel Jephtha; Crobyle Thaïs at the Barbican; and Dunyasha Prokofiev's War and Peace for the BBC Proms, Albert Hall; all for ENO.
Her other roles include Contessa Le nozze di Figaro and Fiordiligi Così fan tutte for Garsington; Agrippina, London Handel Festival; Pamina Die Zauberflöte and Miss Jessel The Turn of the Screw for the RCM; Contessa Le nozze di Figaro for British Youth Opera at Queen Elizabeth Hall; and Fiordiligi Così fan tutte at Opera Holland Park.
Sarah-Jane has also performed at concerts including Mendelssohn's Elijah; Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate and Requiem; Handel's Messiah; Brahms's Requiem; and Bach's Magnificat.
Sarah-Jane recently made her Edinburgh International Festival debut as 5th Maid Elektra. She recently recorded the role of Bellangère Ariane et Barbe-Bleue for Telarc.
Her many prizes include 2003 London Young Welsh Singer of the Year and 2003 MOSCA Young Welsh Singer of the Year.
Sarah-Jane's current and future engagements include the Countess The Marriage of Figaro, Servilia La clemenza di Tito and Pamina The Magic Flute for ENO; and Belinda Dido and Aeneas at the Edinburgh International Festival.
