Skill
Build
Skill Build offers a number of ways
for you to access training, gain job-seeking skills and improve your basic skills, try out different
types of work and improve your self-confidence. Skill Build will allow you to gain an NVQ Level 1
in a particular line of work.
You could choose to do a Step-Up course. This will alllow you 13
weeks to try out one or even more job to help you decide whether this type of work suits you.
You could even try out the Army or the Navy on Skill Build. While you're on Skill Build, you'll be paid a training allowance -
usually £45 per week. When you're ready, you can go on to a National Traineeship and gain NVQ Level 2,
or a Modern Apprenticeship and gain NVQ Level 3.
