Tim Vincent

Actor, Presenter

Career:
Presenting and acting on programmes from ‘Children’s Ward’, ‘Fully Sorted’, ‘Blue Peter’, ‘The Clothes Show’ to ‘Emmerdale’.

Big break:
At 15, I got the part of Billy Ryan in 'Children’s Ward' and the second break was screen testing as a presenter for 'Blue Peter'.

Highlight:
At 'Blue Peter', I flew a fighter jet, successfully completed the New York marathon and very importantly, travelled to South Africa during the years of apartheid. As part of my work, I qualified as a sports scuba diver and gained my licence to racetrack cars and motorbikes.

I completed 36 hours of live millennium TV coverage as the main anchor for BBC Wales and had the honour of being the first person to present on BBC Wales going into the new millennium.

Low:
Making the decision to leave 'Blue Peter'.

Tips from the top:
Have a go, you have to be in the race to win it and don’t be put off by other people. My agent’s advice is be yourself and have confidence in yourself. Also, do your research before auditions, know what you’re talking about and show a passion and enthusiasm for what you’re doing. Concentration is very important and listening to what people are telling you.

Worst job:
I’ve always enjoyed any part-time jobs I’ve had, except when I was a double glazing salesman. It was during my college hols and I hated it, and only lasted 7 days - yuck!
