TV Presenter
Career:
I ran fitness clubs before presenting a health
and fitness slot on the Welsh magazine programme
'Heno'. I was asked to run a fitness club in
the United States but I began working on the
programme while waiting for my green card and
I enjoyed my work so much I never got to the
States! I got the job of presenting 'Sgorio'
as I was a qualified FA football trainer.
I've
travelled the world with 'Pacio' and 'Away Days'
and I've also presented interesting programmes
ranging from fishing to rafting!
The
job:
As well as presenting, I also do voice-overs.
The travel programmes' filming schedule is often
very tight, particularly when we're doing Welsh
and English versions at the same time. It's
a great opportunity to see the world! I've been
swimming with dolphins and diving in the Caribbean.
I've also presented less glamorous, but equally
satisfying, programmes – it's good to face challenges
and have a bit of variety.
Sports
presenting:
When I applied for the job of presenting 'Sgorio',
there were few female sports presenters, but
I had nothing to lose and I came from a football
training background. The production company
were prepared to break new ground. Some people
think presenting is easy which means the presenter
is doing their job well – every expert makes
their craft look easy.
Highlight:
Presenting! It had always been my dream but
I never imagined I would be presenting matches
and holiday programmes from all corners of the
world.
Low:
Being in an aeroplane that was struck by lightning!
Tips
from the top:
Believe in yourself, even when no-one else does!
Hold on to your dreams and persevere.
Other
jobs:
I've done milk rounds before school, worked
in Tesco, in a restaurant and behind a bar while
at college, and I enjoyed the experiences at
the time!
