Mid Wales
has a low population, and also relatively low employment.
It has a number of highly successful companies alongside a
lot of smaller businesses. However, recruitment can be a problem
here, and the isolated nature of the area can lead to deprivation.

Five
Year Prospect
These
are the industries that are likely to have greatest jobs growth
over the next 5 years:
1.
Distribution, Hotels and Catering
1,400
jobs predicted. Significant growth are forecast across all
of this sector, which is already very important to the Mid
Wales economy.
2.
Public Services
An increase of 1,100 jobs is predicted. Over a third of people
working in Mid Wales are employed in Public Services. The
jobs growth will mainly be in health and education services.
3.
Manufacturing
100 new jobs predicted. This sector includes things like recycling,
which is a growing industry because of concerns about waste
disposal and the environment. Also included here is the manufacture
of items as diverse as office furniture, toys, sports goods
and jewellery.
