Five Year Prospect

These are the industries that are likely to have greatest jobs growth over the next 5 years:

1. Distribution, Hotels and Catering
1,400 jobs predicted. Significant growth are forecast across all of this sector, which is already very important to the Mid Wales economy.

2. Public Services
An increase of 1,100 jobs is predicted. Over a third of people working in Mid Wales are employed in Public Services. The jobs growth will mainly be in health and education services.

3. Manufacturing
100 new jobs predicted. This sector includes things like recycling, which is a growing industry because of concerns about waste disposal and the environment. Also included here is the manufacture of items as diverse as office furniture, toys, sports goods and jewellery.

Remember, there will be many additional jobs in these and most other sectors due to retirements and people changing jobs.
