According to the Circlemakers’ Beginner’s Guide, you will need the following five essential items:

1. A 30-metre surveyor’s tape
For measuring out your planned crop art beauty.

2. A 1-2 metre board or plank
In order to stomp those stalks (as demonstrated in the programme).

3. Dowsing rods
Which can apparently be made out of any old pair of bent coat-hangers.

4. A plastic garden toller
Available from all good garden centres, or hireable from tool-hire shops.

5. A Luminous Watch
Good for keeping an eye on how much time you’ve got left before you are exposed like a vampire in the glare of natural light.
