Entertainers
- Must Have
1.
A venue
A local theatre, community hall, school, scout hut, or hotel conference
room. Make sure the hire fees, if any, make the whole project
economically viable.
2.
Chairs
Chairs don’t have to be posh though, in a permanent structure, you
could buy bona-fide cinema seats. See Cine Structures at Links
for some pukka picture prices.
3.
Film projector
There are two primary gauges of film projector: 35mm and 16mm.
35mm is the Rolls-Royce of projectors, flash and expensive, but
with peerless performance and plenty of pulling power. 16mm is
the Ford Fiesta of projectors, cheap to buy, economical to run,
and fancy-free. Its performance lags way behind the 35mm, but
it does the job and it’s easy to get parts.
4.
Sound
Best get in touch with the British Federation for Film Societies
(see Links).
5.
A Licence
You need a licence to run a film society and there are two different
types of licence - Theatrical and Theatrical. Visit BFFS web site
(see Links) for the best advice.
