Which GCE Advanced/AS levels should I take?

There are lots of GCE Advanced/AS level subjects to choose from. You can carry on with GCSE subjects or take ‘new’ ones like politics or psychology.

Think about …..

Which subjects will I enjoy?

If you’re interested, you’ll be more motivated.

Which subjects will I do well in?

Good grades are vital, especially for university places.

Which subjects will I need?

GCE Advanced/AS subjects, especially maths and sciences, can affect HE and career choices. You will be asked for certain subjects for some courses. If in doubt – check it out!

Look in prospectuses or check the UCAS website for information.

Do certain subjects go together?

Yes, some do like:

  • biology and chemistry
  • maths (with mechanics) and physics
  • economics and maths (with statistics)
  • sports studies/PE and biology
