It is proposed that new AVCEs will be offered in Airport Operations and Airline Duties from 2002.

Not all colleges will offer AVCEs in all these subjects. Some may only be available at GNVQ Intermediate level.

The most common work or training areas entered by 16-year-old school leavers are:

• Manufacturing and production work
• Office work
• Building trades
• Engineering craft/technicians
• Skilled jobs like electricians and motor mechanics
• Care work (especially work with the elderly)
• Catering
• Sales
• Hairdressing
