About the department

The IT department at BBC Wales provides support for a range of IT and broadcast equipment, networks infrastructure and technology and also delivers technology solutions for various events and OBs carried out across Wales.

The team supports over 1500 users across Wales in 8 locations using over 400 applications, running on over 60 servers. The IT team works closely with Broadcast Engineering supporting converging technology.

About the placement

The placement will involve the use of active directory management tools, and a variety of other Microsoft support tools. There will be a slant towards developing network skills in an enterprise environment. The candidate will learn how BBC Wales' network is structured and how different systems are interfaced in order to gain connectivity across the enterprise.

It is likely the placement will be involved in a number of small network related projects to give them first hand experience into the process of network design and refresh.
