Work experience

Work experience placements are available in virtually every area of the BBC across Wales.

Current Affairs in the English Language


About the department

The Current Affairs unit is part of BBC Wales News and Current Affairs Department and produces radio and television programmes for BBC Wales and network. The unit is made up of a number of television and radio programmes including Week In Week Out, Eye On Wales and Wales@Work.

About the placement

A placement with BBC Wales Current Affairs, English Language can include the following :

  • Helping contribute to the production of award winning programmes
  • Spending time with the Week In Week Out team, to help research a programme, with the possibility of going out filming and watching the editing process
  • Working with the Eye On Wales and Wales@Work teams, researching for the Radio Wales current affairs and business programmes

Criteria

Age : due to Health & Safety considerations, you will need to be aged 18 or over to apply for this placement.

You will need to show a genuine interest in business and/or current affairs programmes. By coming in on work experience you will be joining a very busy team of staff and working in a demanding and stimulating environment. You need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have good communication skills.
