The BBC Wales Charity Message towards the end of September 2011 was on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. There were several Radio features scheduled for the week beginning 26 September 2011 on Radio Wales in English and Radio Cymru in Welsh.

About the Charity

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer, providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.

More than four in 10 people will get cancer at some point in their lives. Macmillan Cancer Support funds nurses and other specialist health and social care professionals and builds cancer care centres. They listen, advise and share information through their cancer support specialists, website and trained professionals.

Cancer brings extra costs so the charity also gives benefits advice and grants for things such as increased heating bills and travel costs. They campaign to improve cancer care and the lives of people affected by cancer.

Macmillan Cancer Support is celebrating its centenary year with a series of events aimed at raising awareness of our work in Wales. If you need advice or support please call the free Macmillan Support line on 0808 808 0000 or visit www.macmillan.org.uk.
