Kirsty Ball has battled anorexia for over 7 years. Her illness was exacerbated by 'pro-ana' websites, that encourage people to conceal the condition from parents and doctors. She is now in a coma, after suffering extensive brain damage from an overdose.

Hayley Williams died after an epileptic fit. Her family feel they were never fully warned that a seizure can be fatal and are now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition.



Living with amputation

Living with amputation

John was involved in a car crash three years ago. He recovered in intensive care, but bone marrow in his leg became infected. John chose to have his left lower leg amputated, instead of having a bone marrow transplant.



Health complications with arthritis

Arthritis

John Bedford has arthritis and a kidney condition. He can't have medication to reduce the pain caused by the arthritis as this would have an adverse effect on his kidneys.

11 year old Kelvin misses out on many childhood activities because he is a primary carer for his mum after she had an accident. Child carers provide a vital role, but is it fair on them?

Richard Hill has helped care for his mother every day since her health seriously deteriorated after a heart operation. To do this, he has had to sell his business and give up work. He says social services have not been able to offer the care his mother needs.

Jackie's husband Paddy had Alzheimers. He used to enjoy the sensory garden at Cedar Park in Ysbyty'r Tri Chwm. She helped create two more gardens at the centre to make life more enjoyable for patients and carers.

Jordan was a teenager before he discovered his dad suffered brain damage in a car crash many years ago. He doesn't remember him before the accident and is curious to find out more.

Over the years John Redmond has lost family and friends, but he cared for a number of them along the way. He says he'll continue doing this until it's his turn to be cared for.
