Paul Robeson, the American singer and political activist visited the Eisteddfod in 1958. He was a guest of Aneurin Bevan who was the local MP at the time.
T.Llew Jones was the winner of the Chair for his ode 'Caerllion-ar-Wysg'. The author went on to write popular children's books in Welsh including Trysor Plas y Wernen and Tân ar y Comin.
The winner of the Eisteddfod Crown was Llewelyn Jones for his work named 'Cymod'.
