
Welcome to eClips - BBC Wales' video audio and image resource for teachers.
You can access hundreds of clips which you can use to illustrate your lessons and all of them are relevant to the curriculum in Wales.
Interactive white board
Use the website on an interactive white board or on a standalone internet connected computer. We recommend broadband for this service but a dial-up version is also available.
Search by keyword
It's really easy. Just type in a keyword and press go.
Or if you want to narrow your search and be more specific, click on the drop down menus, and make your selection.
Search by curriculum areas
Alternatively you may prefer to browse by curriculum areas. Click on this option and select a subject to see the available topics. Click on a sub-topic to access the relevant clips.
Search results
Having searched for a clip the system will display the relevant clips. An abridged version of the clip description will be shown for each clip including language, topic, school year and duration. To access images and additional information for teachers please click on "More about this clip". You'll be given an opportunity to rate the clip and to post your comments.
Still images
With each video you'll find some still images. Click to enlarge. These can either be printed as hard copies or used as part of your computer presentation.
Playing the clips
The clips can be played using either Real Player or Windows Media Player. Click on the 'full screen' button to play the clips in full screen. When using the service for the first time you may be asked to select Real or Windows as your preferred player. If you do not have these players installed on your computer you may download these.
Your favourites
Why not bookmark your favourite clips by using the Favourites section of your internet browser. You'll be able to play them straight away without having to search for them again. To bookmark clips right click on the "Watch this clip" option and select "Add to Favourites". To access these clips in future, go to the 'Favourites' option at the top of your internet browser and click on the relevant clip.
Use a still as part of your computer presentation
Click on a still to enlarge it. Right click on the enlarged image and select 'copy' from the menu. Open your computer presentation programme. Paste the picture - go to the 'Edit' option and select 'paste'.
Use a clip as part of your computer presentation
Highlight the web address (URL) as given in the address bar at the top of the browser. Copy the address - right click and select 'copy'. Go to your computer presentation programme and select the text or object you want to represent the hyperlink. To make a hyperlink, right click on the text / object and select hyperlink. Paste the address of the clip into the address field of the popup box. Hold down the 'Ctrl' key and press the 'V' button. Now press OK.
