Blaenclydach Colliery

Location:
Clydach Vale, Rhondda Valleys
Sunk:
1863
Closed:
1947

Driven into the No.2 Rhondda seam by the Bush Company in 1863, but was lying idle by 1898 after numerous ownership changes. By 1913, under the management of David Leyshon the colliery employed 726 men on the surface and produced 216,000 tons of coal, however was closed in June 1947 five months after the implementation of Nationalisation.

"The collieries information contained within is based on a number of different sources listed at: Coalhouse Credits. Wherever possible, we've tried to cross-reference this material. However where it's not been possible to do so, we have used 'The South Wales Coalfield Directory Volumes 1-3' by Ray Lawrence (2005) as the primary source."
