21.4 - Ateb cwestiwn - Answering a question

As with answers about yourself, the information comes first:

Gwraig t? ydy hi.
- She's a housewife.

Ysgrifenyddes ydy hi.
- She's a secretary.

Meddyg ydy e (o).
- He's a doctor.

Mecanic ydy hi.
- She's a mechanic.

Learn the following expressions:

Dydy hi ddim yn gweithio. - She isn't working/doesn't work.
Mae hi wedi ymddeol. - She's retired.
Mae hi'n ddiwaith. - She's unemployed.

Dydy e (o) ddim yn gweithio. - He isn't working/doesn't work.
Mae e (o) wedi ymddeol. - He's retired.
Mae e (o)'n ddiwaith. - He's unemployed.

It is important for you to realize that if you don't know the Welsh word for a job or profession - use the English word and don't apologise!

'Judge' ydw i!
'Barrister' ydy hi!
'Member of Parliament' ydy e (o)!
