Camilla Roberts Name: Camilla Roberts

Studied at: RNCM, GSMD, National Opera Studio

Camilla Roberts was born in Wrexham and studied at the Junior School RNCM, the GSMD and GSMD opera course, and at the NOS, sponsored by WNO. She was supported throughout by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, the Sybil Tutton Trust and the Arts Council of Wales, and continues her studies with Laura Sarti.

She has won numerous prizes, including the Philharmonia Chorus Prize, the Harold Rosenthal award and the first recipient of the Kenneth Loveland gift. She was a finalist in the International Young Singer of the Year Competition at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, and the winner of the Welsh Singer Competition in Cardiff 2004.

Operatic appearances include title role in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte at GSMD. Oratorio experience includes Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Magnificat at St John's Smith Square, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle with the Philharmonia Chorus and Verdi's Requiem.

Camilla joined Welsh National Opera as an Associate Artist, where her roles have included Micäela Carmen, Flower Maiden Parsifal and understudy Tatyana Eugene Onegin and Diane Iphigénie en Tauride. Camilla is the recipient of the WNO Chris Ball Bursary.

Camilla recently recorded Viennese arias with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, to be released in 2005.

In her spare time, Camilla enjoys making greeting cards and chatting with her friends.
