Maurice Burgess from U.S.A.
You were by far the most consistent singer of the whole lot in my opinion. I do not quite understand why you did not win the overall prize, but surely that should not discourage you. You have a world class voice. Not only that, but you have the artistic temperament and musicianship to match. Best of luck in your career! You're amazing and you have definitely gained a new fan!
Helen, London
I think Andrew's Cosi aria in his first round was the best rendition I have ever heard - a very individual and lyrical sound with amazing control. I also loved his Handel in the final. A very natural and unforced voice, backed up by musical intelligence and a true understanding of text. He probably should have pipped Nicole at the post in the final, although I liked her as well. Well done !
G Motley, Derby
I thought he was the most versatile finalist of them all. Each item in his programme highlighted a different strength - he adapted his voice perfectly to suit them all. I think he has a beautiful sound and a strong presence on the stage, and rarely have I heard such a fine performance of Handel and Mozart. The Handel was stunningly precise and thrilling, and the Mozart was heavenly, just as it should be.
Susan Marshall, Huddersfield
You were my favourite singer by far & I am disapointed you did not win the overall title
Sue Harvey from Harrogate
Computer and TV down today until latter stages because of storms.I was thrilled and delighted for you Andrew. I would still know that wonderful voice anywhere-win or lose...so glad to have been a small part of your life and music during your time in Cambridge.Every success in the future.
George Hanson from Welshpool
For Andrew Kennedy. Good luck for the final round. Sing for Theo.
Simon & Rachel Thorn from Oxford
He has such a sweet voice with perfect control over every piece from the reportoire, and really communicates the most intelligent interpretation and deep understanding of all that he sings. He prompted us to listen to recordings of Wunderlich & Bjorling: he's even better! He should win the DOUBLE!
Liz Allum from Reading
What an outstanding voice and such a lovely person to go with it. Obviously a winner.
Toni Scott, Liverpool
Congratulations Andrew, on getting England through to the Final, a stunning performance and every best wish for your success on Sunday. I hope you will visit to perform in Liverpool maybe with WNO in the future, when the "NW England & Liverpool Friends of WNO" will look forward to welcoming you.
Martyn Jones from Oxford
First heard Andrew as a chorister at Durham Cathedral and he was already a star. Congratulations - I was bowled over by your Aria from Rakes Progress. Best of luck for the final - We`re rooting for you!
Alan from Wigan England
Good Luck Andrew, for the final on Sunday.
I am not a fan of lyric tenors normally,(I am an amateur "heroic" myself) but your rendition of the "Cosi" aria melted even my cynical old heart!
John Mercer from newtownabbey
What a fabulous voice! The best Lensky
since Stuart Burrows; and the Mozart - superb. Fingers crossed for the Final!
George Hanson from Welshpool, Powys
Congratulations Andrew. Great to hear a world class lyric tenor voice. With all best wishes for the Final.
Zeba from Brussels
Thank you for the lovely Lensky. Best of for the two finals and congratulations for getting through in both.
Hugh Jahol
Truly one of the finest English lyric tenors to have emerged for many years. I very much hope that the judges also recognise this singer's natural ability.
christine roberts from france
well done & good luck for the final.
Claude in London
I liked him. I am always afraid that tenors sound like they're being violated when they sing but he did ok.
Jenny, Bedfordshire
Superb technique coupled with a beautiful, natural sound. So many voices seem to have a ramrod through them but forsake beauty of tone and fluidity of line. I could listen to Andrew Kennedy again and again.
Joan McDonald from Wirral
Wow ! A worthy winner despite some strong competition on the night.
Kate Frankland from East Dean
Well done! Beautiful, beautiful voice. I have never heard the aria from Cosi sung more beautifully. Good luck for the final.
T. Chessa from Rotterdam
Wow, this was great. This is a beautiful lyric tenor, such beautiful legato, so musical. Definately a finalist! One of my favorites until now :-))
David Beaton from Gillingham, Dorset
I first heard him singing in Collegium Regale at Bryanston Church, and he was a soloist in a Bournemouth Sinfonietta concert a few years ago. He had a glorious voice then, but how it has come on! His performance last night was well-rounded, there was plenty of light and shade, he was versatile (witness his varied programme), he communicated with his audience and he has a true tenor voice. He certainly deserves to be a finalist and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the whole competition.
John Lewis from Llandaff
How right the judges were tonight: glorious, unforced sound without a trace of the dreaded throatiness - fantastic diction & expressiveness. Many congratulations & best wishes.
Dorothy Bridger from East Sussex
