The Vocal Coach in action. Lucy Ibbison receives a singing lesson from Miriam Bowen, with Bryan Davies at the keyboard. Radio 3 were looking on. Cardiff Singing Day

The Vocal Coach was in Cardiff city centre on Wednesday 15 June, Cardiff's first-ever day for singing!

BBC Cardiff Singer of the World came right into the city on the day of Welsh representative Camilla Roberts' performance at St David's Hall.

As we all know, Wales is the Land of Song, and Cardiff Singing Day was the time to prove it.

Keen amateur singers came along to the BBC Wales Bus - renamed for the day as the Vocal Coach - outside St John's Church in Working Street, Cardiff

Leading vocal coach Miriam Bowen turned the bus into a performance space to give quick singing lessons, with a VHS recording for each person to take home!

Between lessons, singing students from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Cardiff University Music Department were on hand to entertain the local populace with popular arias.

Legendary accompanist Bryan Davies was there to do double duty, playing both for the lessons and for the students.

Camilla Roberts popped in on her way to rehearsal, and chatted to everyone taking part. She dispensed autographs and received lots of good wishes for her performance.
