After a thrilling nine days, the result is known at last of the 2007 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
Singers from three continents take the honours at the end of an epic competition.
After a nail-biting final, full of drama and high notes, 23-year-old bass baritone Shenyang, from Shanghai, is crowned BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2007.
The youngest competitor performed a programme of Mozart, Verdi and Rakhmaninov to persuade the jury to award him the prize.
The Audience Prize, voted on by viewers, online users and the audience in St David's Hall, went to South African baritone Jacques Imbrailo.
They join English soprano Elizabeth Watts in the honours list. She won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Rosenblatt Recital Song Prize on Friday evening.
