The 2009 Cardiff Singer competition took place from 6-14 June.
The first song prize recital took place on Saturday 6 June, and the first concert was on the following night. Master classes took place on Saturday 13 June.
The Song Prize final was at 7.30pm on Friday 12 June 2009, at St David's Hall, Cardiff. The BBC Cardiff Singer of the World final was at the same venue on Sunday 14 June 2009.
Main competition
- Concert one winner: Eri Nakamura from Japan
- Concert two winner: Ekaterina Shcherbachenko from Russia
- Concert three winner: Yuriy Mynenko from Ukraine
- Concert four winner: Jan Martiník from the Czech Republic
- Concert five winner: Giordano Lucà from Italy
Each of the five concert winners took part in the main prize final on Sunday 14 June 2009.
The winner of BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2009 is soprano Ekaterina Shcherbachenko from Russia.
Giordano Lucà from Italy won the Audience Prize.
